Description
The authors have tried to set forth a theory of some aspects of early ego formation that is within the structure of classic psychoanalysis and that is confirmed by our observations. The core of this book consists of material about the mothers and infants through the 1st year of life studied in the Infant Development Research Project.
This presentation is intended primarily for the psychoanalytically oriented clinician. The method of the study was naturalistic, not experimental, except as the tests which yield developmental quotients are little experiments. Basically, we have quantified and tested clinical judgments and observations by means of appropriate statistical measures.
