The bulk of the book is devoted to an account of basic concepts of psycho-analysis including the instinctual drives, anxiety, ego psychology, and some problems in psychopathology and treatment. There is a postscript on the value of psychoanalysis, and an annex on the most common misunderstandings of psychoanalytic concepts.
