Description
The purpose of this book is to summarize the contributions of Margaret Mahler to contemporary psychoanalytic developmental theory and to share our particular applications of her concepts to clinical practice. Separation-individuation involves progression along two tracks. Separation refers to the child’s movement from fusion with the mother; individuation consists of those steps that lead to the development of an individual’s own personal and unique characteristics.
